Direct payments

Local Authority Funding

One common way to fund supported living services is through local authority funding. After an assessment of the individual’s needs, the local authority may agree to fully or partially fund the required support. This funding covers both accommodation and personalised care as part of a supported living package.

Joint Funding

In some cases, a person may undergo a continuing healthcare (CHC) assessment, where both the local authority and the NHS contribute to their care. This joint funding covers the individual’s accommodation and support needs, while the NHS covers any necessary healthcare services.

NHS Funding

Certain individuals, particularly those with complex health needs or those transitioning from hospital care, may qualify for full NHS funding. This includes individuals eligible for Section 117 aftercare. The NHS will provide a comprehensive support package, which includes accommodation and necessary care.

Personal Budget

Local authorities may allocate a personal budget to individuals, following an assessment of their needs. This budget is designed to cover their support services, and individuals have the option to manage this budget themselves or let the local authority do it on their behalf.

Direct Payments

Direct payments allow individuals to receive funds directly from the local authority, giving them full control over how to spend their support budget. This option provides maximum flexibility, although it does require the individual to manage the funds themselves.

The cost of supported living at Cole Park Care varies depending on the level of care required by each person. The fee structure is based on an individualised assessment of the person’s needs, including the number of hours of support required. In some cases, individuals may share a support team, meaning the cost of care is divided among the residents.
